Nanson, OMG!!! I am bowing to you for hooking me up with Xero! It has some great special effects for that cartoon look I so love. Its call Lithograph. It's awesome... THANK YOU!!!!!! The other effects are all great too. It's amazing the changes you can make with the program.

Here is a sample of what it is capable of doing. I absolutey love this plug in.

I *knew* I had seen a tutorial somewhere, on making a photo into a caricature, which is sorta cartoonish. I finally remembered where I had seen it!

Ive tried them all lol,, i bought programs and everything to do cartooning for me,, but i come to the conclusion the best way to do a cartoon is outline the person you want and color and shade it yourself. nothing comes close to it i think

Okay Joy,

I finally figured out what I did again. So sorry about that but I completely forgot what steps I took. I need to write things down, I am learning too much too fast.

Okay so I followed Nanson's steps.

First I Posterize- 9
Then Edge smooth preserving- 30

this made it look great already!

Then I used my Illistrator...

What is your workflow for the last one ?

Try the following...
"Chef's Comic tute" (couldn't post URL, way too long)

Duplicate > Background
Blend Mode > Soft Light
Activate Background layer >
Apply Cutout Filter >
Levels..4..Simplicity..5...Fidelity...2...(settings may vary)

Duplicate Cutout layer > move duplicate Layer to top
Blend Mode > Soft Light
Apply Edges...
