You have a great camera there and it captures a lot of detail.
In that kind of lighting you may want to try finding the spot mode which measures the light from your central subject instead of averaging the light as most cameras do in auto mode. You did a very good job of capturing the bird. I know that is hard from my own experience with my low end Olympus.
I liked the picture and was playing with it in PSP8 . I adjusted the lighting and contrast and softened the background and detail in the bird just jumped out.
I posted the picture, with your credit, and a version where I used hot wax effect at the link below.
If you don't want me to show your picture I will remove it as soon as you let me know otherwise it will probably be up for a week or two.

PS I had posted the wrong version where I had accidently turned the feathers brown while adjusting the grass and didn't notice it until now. The feathers are now black and grey. (duh)

I'll just blame it on my file system. I keep three copies going plus the one in memory to make sure I save the changes and can go back if needed (I don't use the auto file save) and I saved over my original file instead of the #2 version as I had planned....Result brown feathers. Plan is good but the implementation was rotten. : )
