Like the way you designed the graphics, Jay..not too fond of pop-up pages though..
It doesn't seem clear to me on where to click..there's no Enter or any other sign to make it obvious and although I like the look of the links on the pop up page, I don't think it's clear enough that they are links either I do like the load time..no waiting at all..

It's a cool concept Jay, (love the graphics, by the way!!) but like Nan, I am not overly fond of the popups...and not because they pop up, but because of the limitations within them.
An example would be your link in "the journal" - If I want to add a comment, I only have that tiny window to scroll back and forth in the see the journal page for adding a comment...this makes it very difficult. So you will really need to consider the amount of content (especially width) that will go into that smal window. Scrolling up and down is a given...but side to side is considered bad form. Another little touch that might be nice would be to add a style for those scroll bars within the popup - turn them white with light gray accents...granted only IE uses will benefit from it, but for them it would take that chrome look away and keep the scroll bars less distracting from the contents. Note the way Raven has changed the scroll bars of this forum as an example. The last tip I can offer to anyone that is designing web pages...change your screen resolution and view your site at both 800x600 and 1024x768 (these are the two most popular screen resolution sizes) and see what others will see when they look at your pages. Unless you are designing pages solely to please yourself, you should be mindfull of what your audience sees. It's looking good, Jay! |

try that chuck and see of it works.. it could of been the redirector blocking you... with "the journal" i coped out, and did it the easy way.. i just modified a deadjournal to go in there, i tried to add grey matter, but i couldnt understand it.. the only problem with the side scrolling ive encountered so far, is when leaving comments.. i dont think there's anything i can do about that.. unless i have that open up in another window.. which i dont really want to do. nan, i'll see if i can add alittle something to make them alittle more obvious... thanks all.. ![]() |

It does have an appeal.. however, I will eventually have some constructive critique. There is something in need of adding or subtracting (aside from some basic CSS formatting of your text body). Will have to visit it a couple times to come up with some sorta list for you. Till then....
Ciao, Steve
