If memory serves, IE can't view that file. I don't think IE is capable of it yet. Which is one of the reasons people should stop using IE
I just checked a few known websites. IE is not capable of viewing the FavIcon file. It's like CSS .. IE only views what it wants to. Hope that helps. ![]() ..the Wanderer left his mark |

If you save a webpage [that contains a favicon] in your favorites with Internet Explorer, IE places the favicon file into your temporary internet files folder. If you clear your internet cache (or temp internet files) you will be deleting that favicon, so you won't see it next to the bookmark the next time you open IE. There are ways to make the favicon stay, but that involves finding the favicon file and saving it to your hard drive, then changing the properties of that bookmarked site to point to your saved favicon.

Come to think of it, I have bookmarked my site a few times and noticed that it would just up and disappear on me. I gave up trying to make it stick without assigning the icon to the bookmark.
This all makes perfect sense to me now. My site is well over a couple of years old now and it's just always been one of those things that bugged me. Thanks to you both for answering.
