Need help regarding getting 24bit in PSP vX |

I have a good computer and my settings are 32bit so I can not understand why when i open an image in PSP vX it doesnt even show 24bit(16million Pixels).
Can anyone help me as i am doing a course and this is prerequisite to continue. Help appreciated. |

Maybe you're opening a gif file...you can go to Image>Increase Color Depth>RGB-8 bits/channel..that should take care of it.
