I love those,, i have a question. The images you use in the tags did you draw yourself, and if not do you have to get the artist permission to use... Reason im
asking is i want to sell my work and if i use a tube or something that belongs to someone else, do i have the right to sell it?
I know this is a slippery slope, but im just curious, thanks |

Bob, my 2 cents. You would need permission from the owner of the original image for commercial use and that rarely is given for free.
Tubes are really tricky, many think because they cut out and tube an image they own the right to it but they don't unless they created the original. Ever do a "selection" tutorial? You always wonder if the tutorial writer created the image or just made the selections from another source. It's a complicated subject and as you said, very slippery..

Oh i agree,, i can get in trouble just by redrawing something i see,, even though its done free hand, i know a while ago though, disney tried to sue a tattoo
artist in the states for drawing tattoo work with mickey mouse and it got thrown out of court because the tattooist showed the courts he can draw it from
memory, but thats one case in a million i think,, and in my opinion it really didnt look like mickey,, but more like scratchy on the simpsons ROFL.

I agree but now with the net and all the art programs and tubes, and so on,,,,, i dont think they have enough money to sue everyone. so that sorta lets me off

Sorry this is the first time I received an email that anyone responded to this. The images on my home pape I am not selling, or profiting from in any way. The other tags such as the memorials, baby photos, pet photo's etc. the photo's were sent to me to create something for the client therefore the work belongs to me and is a part of my portfolio. As far as embellisments, frames, etc. I made all of those from scratch. But I am sure there is something on my site that shouldn't be, seeing as when I started it I was completely copyright ignorant. |
