I have what I want but the background is included and I want to cut it out so it looks like a banner. Now I know I should know this by now but it is escaping my short term memory banks! LOL Any help is appreciated. Here is my banner... As you can see I want the gray out and just the banner part. Thanks. Nightcrawler

Registered User Posts: 531 07/15/08 10:07 Fractalogist	Since there's enough of a contrast between the gray parts (at the ends) and the torn white paper part, you could try using the Background Eraser tool, set the tollerance to something like 10, although you would need to be careful when you get to the gun and the guy on either end, since there are dark parts to those. wow, that was one loooong sentence. lol my blog

What I am trying to do is making it llok like a banner but take out the gray ends and leve the curves of the shape of the banner. Am I explaing this right? LOL Probably not... How do I cut of the gray edges and just keep the shape with the curves??? Thank you both for the help! BTW, Great job Chey! You are just too quick!!! Registered User Posts: 50 07/16/08 9:11	I may be misunderstanding the issue, but is this anything like what you want? The edges are pretty rough, I know, but I didn't spend a lot of time cleaning them up. I just used the magic wand to get rid of the gray.

Now please tell me what you did? I also used the wand but when I went to save the pic, the background keeps coming out white. How did you accomplish this and save it? Thank you also so much for helping me out. Oh and yes I did use the wrap on my banner too! That was funny seeing you did that. We were thinking alike! LOL Hey Raven818, Wow, I was just going for the banner part without the background but after seeing yours... It's awesome. Registered User Posts: 52 07/17/08 8:34	So glad I was able to come up with what you wanted! I started by promoting the background to a raster layer. Then I used the magic wand on the gray (probably just as you did), I expanded the selection a couple of pixels to get rid of the last traces of gray, and deleted the selection, leaving the banner on a transparent background. I used Alienware's Eye Candy bevel, but PSP's own would probably do the trick. Then I selected all, floated and defloated, copied and pasted to a new image. This is what I finally saved using the PNG format. You could also save as a transparent GIF, but this can be a bit trickier. For the wavy banner I applied the PSP wave effect before the bevel. Hope this helps! If I haven't explained properly, let me know!

Registered User Posts: 4568 07/19/08 6:43 SysOp	I cut out the corners using the Freehand Selection tool ( old Point To Point ). After that, I used the Selection tool to select your graphics. After they were selected, I made a new background banner and copied the graphics and pasted them on it ( " paste as a new selection ).
