Thanks, everyone, but it's Pops' technique that makes them.
After I had tried a couple, I recorded a script that takes the selection through Pops' steps, promotes the selection to layer, creates a new image from the layer and enlarges the canvas to make room to add the ornament top and hanger, selects the black or white square around the orb and deletes it. All that remains to be done is merge the orb and top, drag the merged layer onto the workspace to eliminate extra space, resize to about 200 wide and save as a .PSP or .PSPImage so that it can be put on any background. With the script, it takes less than a minute to make each one. I did find that clarity and detail are better if the selection is larger, then resized smaller when done. And Pops is right that the area being selected makes a difference in the final look. (A few of these are duplicates with the color changed by using Adjust Color Balance before merging). |
