It seems that about half the time I download a brush, I end up with less than what's pictured when I view the brush set first. And everytime I try to download one particular set, I just get one of the images.
Why am I only able to download part of some of the brush sets? Thanks! |

Hi, and welcome to the forum..
I going to assume you are downloading .zip files containing the brushes. Where are you unzipping them to? And when you try to view them in PSP, are you clicking on the " Custom " button in the Tool Options. When you click on tool options, there's a tiny little brush tip. Click on it, then on " custom ". You may find them there. If not, get back with us. |

Yes, they are .zip files, and I'm unzipping them to
C I checked and, yes, the Custom option is checked. I'm not sure what could be wrong? The Devil comes to us on wings, but leaves on his knees. -French Proverb
Do not tell me what I can and cannot do when I rock!- John Reuben

"If they dont, odds are heavy that they aren't in the proper format for PSP to recognize them ( .JBR )"
Oh, does that mean it won't work if I download Photoshop brushes and change the extension? I thought that might be part of the problem, but I've done that with other brushes, and they downloaded fine. Maybe they've only been downloading part of the way and I just never noticed? Thanks. I'll just stick to PSP brushes and see if that fixes the problem! |

Lots of PS brushes will work in PSP, its just a matter of trial and error. I would try them out in their own folder, if they don't work, you haven't lost anything.
If they do, you've got nice additions. Just changing the extension wont work, it has to be done thru DOS. I've got a thread here somewhere thats tells how to do it, but I can find it. I'll keep looking. |

Make sure you're doing it like this
From the c prompt type c hit enter your prompt will change to c from there, type the name of the directory you placed your brushes in..like c hit enter.. after you reach the brush directory..your prompt will look like this c then from there, type dir w this will show you all the brushes in your directory. |

Finally, something I can help with. DOS is choking on the long directory name "Program Files". It can only handle names with 8 characters, and for a very valid reason, can't handle names with a space in them without some help.
The way to get around it is to enclose the name in quotes. So the command would look like this: cd "Program Files" Also, you don't have to do a cd for each individual directory. You can do it all at once. For example, if your brushes are in: c:\ Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Brushes the command would be: cd "c:\ Program Files\Jasc Software Inc\Paint Shop Pro 7\Brushes" #### Also, you don't have to do the rename (REN) command for each individual file. You can use the asterisk wildcard to do it all at once. The command would look like this: ren *.abr *.jbr This says change the extension of every file ending with .abr to .jbr. If I have time, I'll either write up a DOS Batch file, or compile an executable DOS program for you guys. This was one of the things I did for a living in a previous life. ### ADDENDUM: Be VERY careful when using the asterisk wild card. It is a powerful metacharacter. It means "perform the action on EVERY file that meets the specified criteria". |
