When I have made,or found a tube to save,I export it to picture tubes. I Leave the image in the workspace,then I go up to "Image">Greyscale.Click
on that and export the image as a brush.Simple and quick.

In X2, not sure of the previous versions, there is now Effects>Photo Effects>Black and White Film... that works much better (IMO). You've also got
adjustment sliders there.
